2019 Scientific Research Day

We had the honor of receiving several awards at the 29th edition of the University Research Scientific Days held on May 8-9, 2019.

Congratulations again to our students who worked hard and truly deserved this honor!

A Competition Won - June 2023

One of our students has published an award-winning article in the medical journal EuroIntervention. Titled “Extracardiac basal annuloplasty for the treatment of secondary mitral regurgitation”, the article evaluates a new extracardiac surgical device for treating secondary mitral regurgitation, offering a less invasive alternative to standard surgical treatments.

The Relève étoile” competition promotes careers in research and aims to recognize the excellence of work conducted by university-level students, postdoctoral fellows, and members of a professional order undergoing advanced research training, across all disciplines covered by the three Québec Research Funds.

A Robot to Facilitate Access to Cardiac Imaging Services in Rural Areas

Dr. Philippe Pibarot, along with Dr. Jamal Bentahar, a professor at the Institute of Information Systems Engineering, and Drs. Lyes Kadem and Wen-Fang Xie, professors of Mechanical, Industrial, and Aerospace Engineering at Concordia University, are developing and training the first robot capable of performing ultrasounds on patients’ hearts.

Operating autonomously, this robot will conduct quantitative measurements using ultrasound, which is an essential medical imaging tool used to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases.

“This will allow people in remote areas to access cardiac ultrasound measurements while staying in their community, surrounded by their families, and without compromising their family and professional responsibilities,” said Dr. Wen-Fang Xie.

The research team will collaborate with experienced sonographers from the Institute for the Advancement of Work and will benefit from a $475,100 grant from the Government of Canada.

Vascular 2023 Congress

Our team attended the Vascular Congress, held in Montreal from October 25 to 29, 2023.

Our students had the opportunity to present posters, and one of them, Jérémy Bernard, won the “CCS Sex and Gender-Based Analysis Trainee Abstract Award.”

It was an incredibly enriching experience !

60 years is worth celebrating!

On July 19, 2024, we celebrated the 60th birthday of our team leader, Philippe Pibarot. True to his values of teamwork and the importance of having dreams and goals, this event reflected his inspiring philosophy. As he aptly says: “A conductor is nothing without his orchestra.”

It was a warm and convivial moment, filled with lively conversations and delicious cakes (enjoyed in moderation, of course)!

2024 Scientific Research Day

Our team actively participated in the Research Scientific Days held on October 3rd and 4th at the Laval University. We had the privilege of seeing two of our students win prestigious awards!

Katell Delanoë secured 1st place in the long oral presentation category (PhD, postdoctoral, and resident). See photo.
Antoine Rodel won 1st prize for his poster presentation.

A heartfelt congratulations to our winners for this well-deserved recognition, a true testament to their hard work and dedication!
